How do I apply for the scholarship?
A
Send your application form, transcripts and teacher’s letter of recommendation to apply for the acceptance and scholarship of the program. The committee will review the materials and make the decision.

Q
Would my credits from your school transfer over in order for me to graduate with my class of 2009?
A
Your credits from our school can be transferred to your school, but your school decides how many can be accepted.

Q
What all does the scholarship pay for exactly?
A
The scholarship covers the tuition fee and lodging fee during study at SZMC, but you need to pay for your airfare and living expenses here.

When should I start applying for a visa?
A

After you are accepted, the school will issue you a Study Permit. Then, together with Health Certificate, Documented evidence of financial support of NT$500,000 dollars, and Proof of Insurance within valid date, you can start to apply for the visa. Would I be able to come home for winter break?
A
There will be a one-month winter break (school winter vacation), so you are able to go home if you want.

Q
During the winter break while there studying, what if I can’t afford to fly home or is it mandatory?
A
During the one-month winter break, it’s not mandatory for foreign students to go home. They can stay in the dorm or go to travel. Since it will be a great chance to embrace the local Taiwanese culture in depth, it’s suggested to plan to travel or accept the invitation of local friends, guardians, and host families for homestay.

What are the criteria for going to the school?
A
The entrance requirements are 10-12 graders, or high school graduates, as well as freshmen, or sophomores of native speakers of English or Japanese who are interested in coming to Taiwan to learn Chinese.

What exactly the criteria for being accepted into the school since there is such a limited amount of spaces available?
A
The criteria will include the applicant’s good personality, academic performance, interest in learning Chinese, and appreciation of this cultural and language exchange, etc.

There are so many different cities and apparently airports too, do you know which airport or at least area the student would be flying in to?
A

What type of sports facilities do you have at your school, or that are close by?
A
We have various extracurricular activities, and sports include tennis, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, etc. Particularly, our indoor warm-water swimming pool is one of the most popular. Regarding to SZMC, please refer to http://www.szmc.edu.tw/szmc_e/
