Founding History of Shu Zen College of Medicine and Management

Founded by Mr. Lin Chao Chia in 1969 as Shu Zen Medical School, the name of the institution was changed to Shu Zen College of Medicine and Management (SZMC) in 2000. This change was an important move forward systematically for Shu Zen according to the Govenment's educational policies.

SZMC began with the Department of pharmacy and subsequently the Department of Nursing, Physical Therapy, Optometry, Early Childhood Care & Education, Applied Foreign Languages, Information management, Medical Imagining & Radiology, Dental Laboratory Technology, and Occapational Therapy.

Besides the Hunei campus, a beautiful new campus was built in Lujhu Township, Kaohsiung County, in September of 2001. It consists of a huge eight-floor dormitory building and theree other classroom/ lab/ research constructions, which were desighed by two internationally known architects, Dr. Chang, Wen Te and Mr. Chen, Jung Chuan. Furthermore, the new campus also includes facilities, such as a modernized library, auditoriums, performing halls, art gallery, a student activity center, professional labs and research rooms for the faculty. It is easy to access to the new main campus from several express ways around.

On June 5^th, 2001, the founder, Mr. Lin, Chao Chia, and the ex-Principal, Chen, Jin Hsiung, were both awarded with the Outstanding Alumni Award of National Taiwan Normal University.

On September 23^rd, 2002, Mr. Lin Chao Chia's achievement was recognized with the prize of Top Ten Outstanding Educators of Taiwan.,
