The Department of Physical Therapy

  The Department of Physical Therapy was established at the Shu Zen College of Medicine and Management (S.Z.M.C.) in 1981 and the number of students graduated (P.T.a) is nearly 2000.  The school was promoted to be a five-year junior college of Medicine and management in 2000. The curriculum was designed for the profession physical therapy and practice.

Equipments

  Ever since 2000, the school is located in Luzhu Shiang, Kaohsiung County. The new campus is spacious . The school is has increased practical classrooms and facilities. When the school upgrades into a technological university, the rehabilitation department will accept students graduated from vocational schools. Courses Design

  The physical therapy program is designed for 5-year junior college and complete curriculum in 4 years and clinical practice in 1 year. The curriculum in the Department of Physical Therapy includes 'Introduction to Physical Therapy', 'Introduction to Clinical Medicine', 'Pathology', 'Rehabilitation Medicine', 'Basic Physical Therapy', 'PT in-service', 'Manipulation Therapy', 'therapeutic exercise' .A registered physical therapist can work at hospital ,medical center, handicap group, special education school.

  The licensed physical therapist can work at hospital ,facility center, handicap group, and special education school.

Continued Education

  Graduated 5-year junior college students can continue university and graduated education in rehabilitation field. Our school offers 2-year senior college program on weekends. After finishing 2-year senior college, students can also continue university and graduated education in rehabilitation field in Taiwan and abroad.

  Professional training classrooms and teaching facilities.

  Professional training classrooms provide students with professional circumstances to foster students' professional skill and attitude. According to the specialty areas of physical therapy and the needs of teaching, professional classrooms and teaching facilities are divided into:

1. orthopaedic physical therapy room: including mobilization table、skeletal model.

2. electrotherapy room: including ultrasound、shortwave diathermy、interference current、biofeedback、transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation、functional electrical stimulation、cold pack、hot pack、paraffin、low frequency electrical stimulation.

3. hydrotherapy room: including variety of sizes of tanks and chairs.

4. therapeutic exercise room: including shoulder wheel、finger ladder、rehabilitation stairs、rehabilitation path way、parallel bar、bicycle、mirror、sand bag、dumb bell、gravity trainer、transferred board.

5. pediatric physical therapy room: including therapeutic ball、roller、balanced sea urchin、ball pool、practice doll.

6. assistive device room :  Physical Therapy', 'PT in-service', 'Manipulation Therapy', 'therapeutic exercise' .The licensed physical therapist can work at hospital ,facility center, handicap group, and special education school.
