For implementing Taiwan Governments’
policy for technological and vocational education, Shu Zen College of Medicine
and Management not only has been encouraging students to obtain more
professional certificates, but also will start to work on the following key
tasks:
1. To provide students the best
learning environment
2. To enhance the quality of
teaching and research of the faculty
3. To increase the efficiency of
administrators’ service
Since the founder, Mr. Lin, Chao
Chia’s establishment of this educational institute, the faculty and many other
friends have put much efforts to make it function well and sound. By thus far,
we have had over 20,000 graduates and about 5,000 students enrolled every year.
In the near future, we are going to apply for having 4-year tertiary programs,
in order to benefit more technological and vocational students.
Our new Lujhu campus is built on 12
hectares of land with several features. First of all, the traffic to Lujhu
campus is convenient, for it is located within 3-minute driving off the west
side of the Lujhu interchange of Sun Yat-sen Express Way. Second, it is close by
the old campus, Hunei Campus, which occupies 3.5 hectares. The new campus could
usually be easily noticed by its elegant design of buildings.
Another important feature is the nine
technological and vocational programs we have. The following passage contains a
brief introduction for each department. The Department of Nursing started to
recruit students in 1971 and has been known to have high passing rates for
professional certificates and entrance exams to higher education. The Department
of Physical Therapy was established in 1981. Shu Zen was the second institute to
establish such a department in Taiwan. As for the Department of Optometry, Shu
Zen was the first institute to set up such a program for people who were
interested in Optometry. This department has been hugely subsidized by Ministry
of Education, Taiwan. The Department of Information Management, Applied Foreign
Languages (which includes English and Japanese programs) and Early Childhood
Care and Education were all established in 2001. The Departments of Medical
Imaging and Radiology, Dental Laboratory Technology, and Occupational Therapy
were set up respectively in 2004, 2006 and 2008.
For these professional programs, Shu
Zen assures each student of the faculty’s quality. The faculty’s pedagogy is
often evaluated and modified to best serve and educate different students. Shu
Zen is also well equipped with different subsidies. Thus, students are assured
to learn with the most advanced technology and skills.
