I am pleased to welcome
everyone to Shu Zen College of Medicine and Management. SZMC is an educational
institution which offers vocational courses to students, thus leading them
to a better life in the future.
To meet parents’ high hopes and
expectations, the school has provided complete learning and teaching facilities
for our students. The school administration, faculty, and staff all work
together to give a better chance for them to succeed in the society where they
are in. Since most of our students come from socially and economically
disadvantaged families, we do everything possible for them to improve their
social and economic conditions. We try our best to help students pass a
government exam that would qualify them to acquire a specific certificate or
license. Several of our graduates have had the chance to pass a government exam,
but we strive to do better. Thus, we put emphasis on the enhancement of
teaching techniques, reinforcement of learning outcomes, helping our kids
develop their innate capabilities, and guiding them to obtain a career that
matches their talents and abilities.
The faculty, students, and
administrative staff, are equally important in SZMC. Each has an important role
to play to make SZMC grow, just as SZMC administration has responsibilities to
make everyone get a fare share of what he/she deserves.
Based on the beliefs mentioned
above, we are bent on:
1. Creating and Maintaining a
Positive Learning Environment in the Campus
We claim that a good learning and
teaching environment displayed in classrooms comes from a broad and balanced
curriculum which is well matched to the needs of students and teachers. Hence,
our educational mission is to engage outstanding teachers and talented students
in varied and meaningful activities with a mutual sense of belongingness. It is
firmly believed that only via proper conduct and behavior could goals be
achieved effectively.
2. Adopting Innovative Ideas
in Developing the School Curriculum
Vocational education aims to train
students to become professional technicians;
however, competitiveness in
employment relies heavily on the acquisition of technical certifications.
Therefore, helping students pass the examinations required for technical
certifications is our prior goal. To achieve this, besides responding to the
rapid global changes in technology and education, we adopt innovative ideas in
planning and enriching our curriculum and teaching methods, as well as
increasing students’ motivation and improving their attitude toward learning.
3. Exploring
and Utilizing Educational Resources
We are committed to explore the
educational resources of both the inner and outer schools and utilize them
properly and effectively. Educational resources such as books, journals,
multi-media resources, and others are necessary in developing the potentials of
students and teachers. Thus, our school gives prior concern to such resources.
4. Attracting and Retaining
Outstanding Teachers
To ensure that better teaching
quality is maintained in SZMC, good and outstanding teachers are invited to
teach in the school aside from retaining the existing ones. Teachers are
encouraged to pursue higher studies for professional development or attend
workshops , seminars, and conferences to update their teaching methods.

Developing a School for Shaping Young People’s Future Lives
Taking into consideration the
current trend in caring for the elderly, SZMC has identified its educational
role as a medical and nursing - oriented vocational college. To stand out from
the rest of the vocational schools in Taiwan, SZMC focuses on developing medical
technicians needed not only at the present time but in accordance with the trend
in the near future.
We are positive that Shu Zen
College is a school for “shaping young people’s future lives.” Its graduates in
the past have proven its tremendous contributions to the society. As teachers
continue to give guidance and clear direction to their vocational students,
there is no doubt that they shape the future of these young people. Vocational
education is a key to the success of a growing individual. Thus, SZMC needs to
be continually nurtured and developed in order to maintain its present status
in molding the future of the young.
